Installation of the MachineMate Part Program Conversion utility The installation will check several Windows files are up-to-date relative to the Visual Basic 6 distribution. It is possible with some Windows installations, this installation utility was unable to update several of the Windows files to a newer version. With some systems, VB had problems with these Windows files: OLEAUT32.DLL OLEPRO32.DLL STDOLE2.TLB If the installation does not work correctly (the application is simple and a test with one or two programs will verify its operation), perhaps the VB application really needed one or more of the above files. If the installation declares it has a problem with Windows files, try at least once to continue through the error(s) as this Windows file checking is not guaranteed. First, in the installation directory, rename the setup.lst to setup-old.lst. Then copy and rename the setup2.lst (provided on the last disk of the distribution) to be setup.lst in this directory. Run the installation again and it will try to work with Windows in verifying these files. When the installation detects a problem with these, it will require a Windows restart. If after the restart and another attempt to install with setup.exe still results in the same installation failure, then contact MachineMate Inc (920-907-0001) regarding the installation. This utility assumes a 1024x768 (or higher) screen resolution. If the display resolution is smaller than 1024x768 used by this program, the convert640.exe that has been provided will reside within a 640x480 display and the convert800.exe is within a 800x600 display. Shortcuts to these other two .exe files have been provided. If the installation is on a PC or MachineMate that will never run at another screen resolution, then the other two extra shortcuts should be deleted (and perhaps the one that remains should be renamed if appropriate). This installation seems to require Administrator rights with Windows 2000. The MM user (for MachineMate CNC) might have Administrator rights or Power User rights. If Administrator account is used for the utility installation, then the Program shortcuts will be in the Administrator account not All users. In this case use Windows Explorer to navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Start Menu\Programs\MM\. In this folder will be the three shortcuts for this utility. They should be copied or moved to: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\MM\. Note: In some Windows installation, the TEMP system variable is not configured correctly. Please verify it is valid. As an alternative, it can configured to this default. Windows Start - Settings - Control Panel. Select System. Select Advanced tab. Select Environment Variables button. In the System variables list, verify: TEMP C:\WINNT\Temp TMP C:\WINNT\Temp If these are also shown above in the User Variables list, delete them from that User list. The TEMP variable can be defined solely in the System variables list. After selecting OK to close this dialog, use Windows Explorer and check that the C:\WINNT\Temp folder exists. If it is missing, then click on the WINNT folder in the left pane, select from the top menu bar File and then New and then Folder. When the new folder is shown in the right pane, enter Temp for its name. User note: If this utility will be used to convert programs from only one other control type then after the installation check the readme-lock.txt for information on locking a single target.
