MACHINEMATE
INC
has
several linear feedback systems
available. These systems all provide
encoder signals (quadrature square
wave, 5 VDC TTL), directly compatible
with a
MACHINEMATE
CNC
or other
vendor CNC systems requiring encoder
feedback.
The recent advancements in Digital
Signal Processors (DSPs) along with
high-speed analog-to-digital conversion
ICs has allowed the Spherosyn technology
to provide feedback for a wide range
of motion control applications.
This system has the environmental
rating of IP67, or fully submersible,
according to IEC 529; it exceeds
NEMA type 6 rating. The system can
withstand a shock of 100g and vibration
of 30g. The scale is comprised of
a tube that contains a column of
high-precision, nickel-chrome ball
bearings. The reader head contains
a series of coil assemblies along
with the supporting electronics.
An electromagnetic field is generated
by a drive current that interacts
with the balls contained in the
scale. The pickup coils detect the
variations in the induced field
which are then processed to generate
the signals that vary in the encoder
TTL square wave form. The ease of
installation of this system has
an added benefit since it does not
require a machined surface for mounting.
Incremental linear feedback encoders,
for travels of 2 inches to 40 inches
(51mm to 1016mm)
The Microsyn* system uses a scale
comprised of a carbon-fiber tube
(0.257inches in diameter, or 6.5mm)
that contains the column of ball
bearings. The resolution of this
system is down to 0.2microns. The
data sheet is included (70 KB
pdf, a single printed page).
Incremental linear feedback encoders,
for travels of 4 inches to 453 inches
(102mm to 11.5meters)
The Spherosyn* system uses a scale
comprised of a 304 stainless steel
tube (0.601inches in diameter, or
15.25mm) that contains the column
of ball bearings. The resolution
of this system is down to 0.5microns.
The
data sheet is included (70 KB
pdf, a single printed page).
Distance-coded incremental linear
feedback encoders, for travels of
4 inches to 365 inches (102mm to
9.3meters)
The Spherosyn* distance-coded linear
feedback system uses a similar scale
as above (304 stainless steel tube,
0.601inches in diameter, or 15.25mm)
but the scale also contains uniquely
spaced reference markers. These
markers allow the encoder to mimic
the distance-coded index marks that
are generated by glass scales. The
resolution of this system is down
to 0.1microns. The
data sheet is included (60 KB
pdf, a single printed page).
