GIDDINGS & LEWIS ANNOUNCES THE TRANSITION OF ITS MACHINEMATE ® BRAND OF PC-BASED CNC CONTROL TO GERMAN OWNED POWER AUTOMATION INC.

 

Fond du Lac, WI, August 28, 2000 - Giddings & Lewis announces the transition of its MachineMate ® brand of PC-Based CNC control to German owned Power Automation Inc. “This transition further completes our strategy to move out of OEM supplied CNC controls,” said Douglas B. Vonderhaar, Vice President and General Manager of the company’s Controls, Measurement and Sensing Division headquartered in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin USA. “Our core products for the future will consist of Programmable Industrial Controls for non-metal cutting applications, Coordinate Measuring Machines, software, service and associated peripheral devices,” said Vonderhaar.

 

The MachineMate control was primarily developed for OEM Machine Tool manufacturers and retrofitters. “It was determined that the Machine Mate no longer fit our strategic portfolio and that Power Automation was positioned to commercially market the product.” Details of the transition agreement were not made public.
